Arguments Unplugged (a P.E. Short-Take)

Most of us have been in our fair share of arguments and most of us have found it to be a bad use of our time and energy- almost every time.  Arguing is one of our most heavily utilized conflict resolution tools and it is also one of the least effective.  Here’s a perspective that might help you cut yours down:

Don’t waste time and energy arguing over facts because you can just look up facts and see who is right- and facts cannot be changed.

Don’t waste time and energy arguing over feelings because you really cannot change how a person feels- Only they can do that.

So if you find yourself arguing you are already losing because you are burning time and energy you will never get back.  If your communications turn into an argument- over facts or feelings- just do yourself a favor and unplug it.  Plug that energy in someplace else where you can get something out of it.
